My Braces

Put on my braces and I
went for a walk today.
Both of my doctors told me
I’d never walk again.
Went to the polls and I
picked out a president.
There’s rules to this game,

living in this college town.

as I stumble down the stairs

rolling through Havasu,
a brand new attitude and an old pair of boots.
Catching some rays and unpacking a dream,
a one man campsite on an abandoned beach.

as thin as the blood that’s a running through my veins.
